ABOUT FIYE’S LOCAL OFFICE IN PUŁTUSK
FIYE’s local office in Pułtusk was founded in 2010. From the beginning, its principal aim was to offer the community, in particular young people in Pultusk and its surrounding, activities and meetings related to volunteering, active citizenship and intercultural education. For the last 7 years, FIYE has been hosting international volunteers from different countries to reach these aims.
FIYE cooperates mostly with local primary and secondary schools (ages 7 – 15, and 15 – 19), day care centres for kids and day-care for seniors „Senior – Wigor” but its international volunteers work also in kindergartens, libraries and culture centres in Pultusk and its surroundings.
VOLUNTEER’S ACTIVITIES
The volunteer, Jennifer Consuelo Soto Hernandez, participating in the Erasmus+ project “Young Leaders for Social Change: Entrepreneurship through Volunteering” supports the FIYE office with promotion of local and international voluntary service projects like preparing posters and flyers, photo documentations of events, managing social media like Facebook and Instagram and running the blog of the association.
The volunteer also organises and participates actively in language/cultural meetings, workshops and celebrations with other volunteers in schools and institutions from Pultusk and near villages.
Part of the main activities of the volunteer is to support one of the local partners and cooperate with the day-care centre for seniors „SENIOR – WIGOR” on a regular basis. The volunteer spends time with the seniors, accompanies them in excursions and walks around the town, teaches basic Spanish, helps to prepare artistic, handicraft and cooking activities.
During the summer, the volunteer will support different programs of our local partners: Workcamp in Zambski and summer activities in the public library in Przasnysz.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP WORKSHOP
FIYE promotes and supports active participation of young people in community life. In the beginning of July, a workshop on social entrepreneurship took place. The workshop focused on the characteristics, aims and objectives of social entrepreneurship and how it works, as well as providing a closer look at the local community and its needs. The workshop was a starting point for generating ideas for local actions. As a complementary activity, a visit to one of the cafes run as a social enterprise will be organized.
The aim of the workshop was to introduce the concept of social and solidarity economy, social entrepreneurship and its link to international volunteering. It focused on the characteristics, aims and objectives of social entrepreneurship and how it works, as well as providing a closer look at the local community and its needs. The workshop was a starting point for generating ideas for local actions. As a complementary activity, a visit to one of the cafes run as a social enterprise will be organized.
.
The first part of the workshop was about mapping the community, establishing the target groups and doing a brainstorming of the main problems in the community and the resources available as a community and individuals.
In the second part of the workshop, the volunteers proposed some possible projects and did a SWOT analysis of each one of them to verify if they were feasible. They were learning and sharing previous experiences in volunteering work, like traits and competences important found in the group and in the leader.

WHAT’S NEXT
Now, for Jennifer it’s time to get inspired, gather all the ideas and put them into action.
