Brief description and main aims

• Improve the life quality of children and teenagers
• Contribute to their personal development and their inclusion with the help of arts, handicraft, sports etc.

Main Activities

• Recreational activities, such as handicraft, sports (football, swimming, basketball, athletics, beach volleyball)
• Support the families with the education of their children and provide them more security and trust
• Community work and awareness raising of the population of Tunja about respect and inclusion of children with special needs in their communities
• Search for cooperations and mechanisms to improve the teacher's training regarding the children's special needs (physical or neurological)
• Search resources to consolidate the foundation (e.g. with the help of private or public companies)

Volunteer tasks

• Recreational inside activities (games, homework, handicraft etc.)
• Sports activities

Volunteer requirements / Skills

• Basic knowledge of sports
• Basic experience of interacting with children with special needs
• Patience, gentleness, love and good willingness

Location

The project is located in Tunja, 150 km north from Bogotá at 2.720 meters above sea level on the Colombian Andes. It is the capital of the department Boyacá and counts with a population of 181.407 inhabitants. Is an important educational centre.

Hosting Situation (Board and Lodging)

The volunteer will live with a host family.
