ÑAMBI WAIRA (COL-135)
|
Brief description and main aims
This project was founded by local communities of Puerto Limón, Putumayo. Its main aim is to
disseminate information regarding the culture of Inga indigenous communities and the
importance of nature/environment for them; these means that the experts on this topic are the
community itself. They do these through ecotouristic activities in order to teach other people
about this in a dynamic way.
|
Cultural Exposure
Puerto Limón is a small town located in the Caquetá and Mocoa river valley, with a population
of aproximately 1,381 people. It has a wet tropical rainforest climate, whith heavy rainfall yearround,
since it is on the border of the amazon jungle.
In this particular part of the country there are Inga indigenous communities, afro descendants of the pacific and white people. In the project there are people who belong to these communities and they are all working towards disseminating their cultures and the importance of environment. There is a very familiar dynamic in the project given the nature of their members.
|
Main Activities
The aim of Ñambi Waira’s project is to disseminate
information about this area of the country, to make
known the cultural customs of the Inga indigenous
community as well as the afro community, and the
beauty of nature that is not found anywhere else in
the country. To be able to accomplish this, the project
offers eco touristic activities as a dynamic way to
teach about their cultures. They work with local
people as well as tourists that visit the zone.
