Young Leaders for Social Change
Social Entrepreneurship weekend training
In spring 2019 KERIC organized a weekend workshop for local teenagers and international volunteers to raise awareness about Social Entrepreneurship. The participants spent one weekend in the Kysuce mountains, where they, as part of the on-going project “Young Leaders for Social Change: Entrepreneurship through Volunteering”, took part in a training aimed at boosting their creativity and willingness to participate and educate themselves in local social projects.
Social Entrepreneurship summer training
In the beginning of July, international and local volunteers took part in a Social Entrepreneurship training. Here a group of young people learned more about the purpose of social entrepreneurship, how to develop creative ideas and form them into a business plan. The participants gained valuable presentation skills, received motivational examples of local social entrepreneurs and engaged in teamwork activities.
The training lasted 4 days and included ice breakers, energizers, team building and social entrepreneurship activities which they can later use during their volunteering in Slovakia. The volunteers visited various ambitious entrepreneurial projects around the region which helped them not only to better understand the local community and their culture, but also inspired them to start or take part in a project of their own interest.
Summer Camp
During our summer camp activities volunteers had the chance to become facilitators and make use of some of the Social Entrepreneurship training activities they learned.
As we hosted activities for participants of different ages, our volunteers tried to design activities suitable for different age groups. For the younger students they reused energizer training activities, but for teenagers they replicated the same social entrepreneurship activities they had previously taken part.
Social Entrepreneurship workshop for new volunteers
In KERIC a new term with incoming volunteers has started, with volunteers from France, Ecuador, India, Myanmar Republic, Austria, France, UK and Turkey. Our team support them regularly by organizing workshops focusing on different set of skills. On the 15th of October it was time to learn more about social entrepreneurship and introduce them to our ongoing project „Young Leaders for Social Change: Entrepreneurship through Volunteering “. We included activities that were introduced to us in Argentina like smart goals, SWOT analysis, community mapping or mix and match. As a result, the volunteers now understand the community they have become part of better, and feel motivated to start their own small social entrepreneurial projects.
After the training the volunteers would now like to organize their own social awareness campaign that will consist of an online part, workshops organized in schools and regular debates in KERIC. Now KERIC is going through the logistic parts and dividing the roles, informing schools, choosing activities and preparing leaflets for the upcoming projects of the volunteers.
